Healthy Campus
Gender Diversity & Inclusion
Selkirk College's Envision for creating inclusive environments
Our values

Selkirk College works to develop student leaders, campus networks and future actions to create a welcoming, inclusive school community.

Selkirk College envisions campuses and a society free of 2SLGBTQIA+ prejudice, bigotry and hate. Our vision is to create a fully equitable community of all genders and sexualities that strives for knowledge, challenges barriers, and seeks to empower agents of social change.
Equity
We promote equity for all queer individuals, recognizing that to do so we must honour and affirm all personal identities which intersect and impact 2SLGBTQIA+ lived experiences in the world. In embracing equity, we seek to eradicate the powers that oppress, marginalize, make invisible, disenfranchise, harass, bully, intimidate, harm, abuse, and/or discriminate against 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and communities.
Community
We nurture and develop a safe, vital, healthy, and evolving community for all 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, founded on integrity and collaboration while recognizing and valuing differences and seeking partnerships with our allies.
Inclusion
We embrace the full spectrum of 2SLGBTQIA+ experiences, viewpoints, and contributions, celebrating the different nuances and cultural diversity created in the intersections of sexuality and gender with race, ethnicity, religion, class, ability, nationality, and all other identity categories.
Leadership
We empower innovative leaders who both inspire and are inspired by others as they work together to transform the world in a climate of respect and celebration for all 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals.
Respect
We celebrate the value of individuals of all sexualities and genders and we welcome a wide range of opinions and ideas that are grounded in human dignity.
The 2SLGBTQIA+ student association is well underway!
This is a student led, self-determined group going forward. If you identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ please contact Healthy Campus Coordinator Ewnet Demisse to connect.
